This article outlines the procedure of granting permissions to access specific databases for the users within the GLOBODOX system. The goal is to ensure that each user has access only to databases relevant to their role.
Suppose there’s a user John who needs access only to the HR database and no other GLOBODOX database
Step1:
Creating a role for shared Database access
Login to GLOBODOX.
First we need to create a role which allows access only to shared databases. Navigate to the Roles section in Settings and clone the Writer (Owned & Shared) role.
For cloning the role, right click on the role and select Clone Role option. Rename the role as Writer(Shared DBs).
Navigate to the Core Privileges section on the left pane of the role. From the Choose Entity list select Database from the dropdown.
Currently, the role has Full permission in the View section, allowing the user complete access to view any database. We need to change it to Shared by checking the View checkbox under Shared.
Save and close the role.
Now in the Users section select the user John, assign the Writer(Shared DB) role to John and unassign other roles.
Step 2:
Sharing database with the user
Click on settings and navigate to the DB list.
Right click on HR Database
Select share option. Add user John through the Add option.
Click the Advanced option, select View from the checklist and click OK.
Now the HR Database has been shared with John and has the permissions to view the database.
Follow the same procedure to assign the Accounts database to Jack.
Step 3 :
Confirmation
To confirm that John has access to the shared database, login as John and verify the databases in the DB list.
