Creating FTP Based File Stores in GLOBODOX

Requirements:

  • You must have already configured FTP. If not, refer the below article to configure FTP. Configuring FTP in IIS

Step 1: Create FTP File Store in GLOBODOX 

  1. In the folder configured for FTP (e.g., MainDB FTP), create a subfolder for your File Store (e.g., GDX FTP File Store 1)

  2. Launch GLOBODOX, login as superadmin and go to the Settings pane.

  3. In the DB Settings select Files Stores and click the New button in the menu bar.

  4. Enter a name for the file store, for eg. gdxfs 

  5. In the File Store Type drop down select FTP Location option. FTP Settings window will be launched.

  6. In the Hostname or IP address box enter the name of the server machine or the machine IP address. If you are going to use the GLOBODOX web client over the internet then use the public ip address assigned to the server machine.

  7.  In the folder path enter “/MainDB/GDX FTP File Store 1 “

  8. Enter the username and password of the ftp user you created in the User Name and Password box.

  9. Click the Test Connection button to check if the connection is working. You should get a message Connection successful if everything is working fine.

  10. Click OK to save the connection settings

  11. Now select the files store you just created and click the make gdxfs file store as default file store.

Step 2: Connect the GLOBODOX Client to GLOBODOX Server.

  1. Install GLOBODOX in the client mode. You will need to server url during the installation to connect to the GLOBODOX Server. For e,g, http://machine-name:5511 (replace the machine-name with the name of the machine on which GLOBODOX is installed. You can also use the machine IP address instead of the server name).

  2. Login to GLOBODOX and you should be able to see the documents (depending on the permission).

  3. Now add a file in GLOBODOX you should be able to see in the GLOBODOX Server installation.
